Safe Schools Initiative Must Act Before More Tragedies Occur

0

Senator Osita Ngwu has called for urgent action to strengthen school safety across Nigeria, stressing that government agencies responsible for implementing the Safe Schools Initiative must rise to their responsibilities before another preventable tragedy occurs.

Senator Osita Ngwu has called for renewed commitment to protecting schools and ensuring the safety of students across the country. He noted that Nigeria already has enough government agencies with the mandate to enforce policies that safeguard schools, but many have failed to effectively carry out their responsibilities.

According to the Senator, the Safe Schools Initiative must become more proactive in preventing security threats rather than responding only after lives have been lost.

"We have enough government agencies with the mandate to enforce policies, but many are simply not living up to their responsibilities. The Safe Schools Initiative must wake up and do its job. We cannot continue to wait until tragedy strikes before acting. Our children deserve better," Senator Ngwu stated.

He urged all relevant institutions to strengthen coordination, enforce existing safety policies, and take decisive measures to create secure learning environments for every Nigerian child.

Senator Ngwu reaffirmed that the safety of students must remain a national priority, emphasizing that every child deserves to learn in an environment free from fear and insecurity.
