Senator Osita Ngwu Inspects Completed 132kV Transmission Substation at 9th Mile

During the inspection, officials confirmed that the substation is fully completed and capable of supplying approximately 96MW of electricity to the 9th Mile Industrial Hub and surrounding communities. Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, inspected the newly completed 132kV Transmission Substation at 9th Mile in Udi Local Government Area to assess the level of completion and receive updates on the remaining work before the facility is commissioned.

During the inspection, officials confirmed that the substation is fully completed and capable of supplying approximately 96MW of electricity to the 9th Mile Industrial Hub and surrounding communities. However, the final stage of the project involves completing the transmission line that will connect the facility to the New Haven 330/132kV Transmission Substation before power can be transmitted.

Speaking during the visit, Senator Ngwu reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the remaining connection is completed as quickly as possible, enabling residents, industries, and businesses to enjoy a more reliable electricity supply.

The inspection underscores the Senator's continued commitment to supporting critical infrastructure projects that will drive industrial growth, improve electricity access, create economic opportunities, and enhance the quality of life across Enugu West and beyond.

The inspection team included the Executive Chairman of Udi Local Government Area, Engr. Hyginus Agu; Executive Secretary/CEO of the Enugu State Rural Electrification Board, Engr. Christopher Ezeoha; Assistant General Manager (Transmission), Engr. Jude Madu, representing the General Manager (Transmission), Engr. (Dr.) Thomas Inugoonum; Principal Manager, Public Relations, Mrs. Mary Udom Philips; and Acting Principal Manager (Transmission), Engr. Peter Ibeanusi of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
