Senator Osita Ngwu Mourns Victims of Nigerian Air Force Aircraft Crash

Senator Osita Ngwu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Air Force, has expressed condolences to the Nigerian Air Force and families affected by the tragic aircraft crash.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Air Force, Senator Osita Ngwu, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic crash of a Nigerian Air Force aircraft which had 32 persons on board.

Senator Ngwu described the incident as a painful moment for Nigeria, particularly for the Nigerian Air Force, the families of the victims and all those who continue to make sacrifices in the service of the nation.

In a statement, the Senator extended his heartfelt condolences to the Chief of the Air Staff, officers and personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, as well as the families and loved ones of all those affected by the unfortunate incident.

He mourned the gallant men and women who lost their lives while carrying out their duties in service to Nigeria, alongside the other persons who were on board the aircraft, noting that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

According to reports, the aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when the accident occurred. Search and Rescue operations have since been activated and are ongoing in coordination with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies.

Senator Ngwu commended the Nigerian Air Force, first responders and other emergency agencies for the swift activation of Search and Rescue operations and their efforts at Igbokoda.

He urged all relevant agencies to continue making every effort to support the rescue operation and provide timely assistance to those affected.

While awaiting further developments, Senator Ngwu called on members of the public to remain calm and rely exclusively on official information from the Nigerian Air Force and other competent authorities regarding the rescue operation and subsequent investigation.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Air Force, Senator Ngwu stated that the committee would engage with the leadership of the Nigerian Air Force to obtain a full briefing on the circumstances surrounding the incident and would continue to closely monitor developments.

He said the thoughts and prayers of the committee remain with the victims, their families, the Nigerian Air Force and all personnel involved in the ongoing response.

Senator Ngwu prayed that Almighty God would grant the departed eternal rest and give their families, colleagues and loved ones the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
