Oversight remains one of the most important constitutional responsibilities of a Senator, and one I take seriously. Senator Osita Ngwu
Beyond lawmaking, oversight remains one of the core constitutional responsibilities of a Senator, and one I approach with utmost seriousness and commitment. Effective representation requires regular visits to project sites, asking the right questions, and ensuring that every stage of implementation meets the highest standards of due diligence. Public resources must deliver measurable value to the people, and that can only be achieved through consistent supervision, accountability, and close attention to detail.
Reflecting on one of such engagements, on 03/11/2024, I joined members of the joint Senate and House Committees on Works during the second day of the oversight inspection of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway project. The exercise was led by the Honourable Minister of Works, H.E. Engr. David Umahi, who took the committees through critical sections of the project while providing updates on the level of progress recorded.
That inspection underscored our collective resolve to ensure that major national infrastructure projects are delivered efficiently, transparently, and in line with the expectations of Nigerians.
